The Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) published on Saturday the maximum prices of LP gas for sale to the public during the next week.
The regulatory body established 145 zones that will have different prices in each country, depending on the municipality or mayor’s office.
Prices will be determined by regions and will be adjusted every Saturday to operate the following week, with this, no distribution company will be able to sell above the prices established each week.

The new agreement takes up the 145 regions established by the Ministry of Economy that operated until December 31, 2016, the last date that there were maximum prices for LP gas set by the CRE.
This price cap is a transitional measure which is expected to be in force for six months.

The prices were set according to CRE agreement No. A/024/2021 that establishes the regulation of maximum prices of liquefied gas to the end user, in compliance with the emergency directive for consumer welfare, issued by the Ministry of Energy, in order to protect the interests of end users.
Before being set by the new maximum price methodology, these were determined by each company and according to the mayor’s office or municipality.
The maximum prices will now be determined by a formula that includes the maximum price applicable to the region, the average marketing price per point of sale applicable to the region, the estimated cost of freight from the shipping plant to the distribution plant applicable to the region, the marketing margin and the adjustment factor.
In Mexico City, for example, in all the mayor’s offices the same price limit will be applied for the kilo of LP gas that will be 21.33 pesos and 11.52 per liter.
The highest price per kilo, published this Saturday, is 27.08 pesos for Mulegé and San Quentin in Baja California Sur.
