Danish international Christian Eriksen is in “excellent shape” both physically and mentally, inter Milan medical services said on Wednesday after a visit by the player to the sports city of the club ‘neroazzurro’. Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest while playing for Denmark at Euro 2020. The 29-year-old collapsed during the first half of his country’s group match against Finland in Copenhagen in June and had to be attended to on the pitch. He received emergency treatment in the field and then underwent a successful operation to install a device in his heart. He had been recovering in Denmark, but has now been able to visit his club in Italy. An Inter statement on Wednesday read: “This morning, Christian Eriksen paid a visit to the Suning Training Centre in Appiano Gentile. The Danish midfielder met with the club’s directors, coach, teammates and all the staff present. Eriksen is fine and in excellent physical and mental shape.” It will now follow the recovery programme presented by Danish doctors in Copenhagen, who will also coordinate clinical follow-up. Inter’s medical staff will naturally be kept informed and updated throughout the process,” the Italian club said.
