The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) announced that starting August 23, at the end of the Cincinnati Masters 1000, ranking points will be added and subtracted according to the methodology prior to the start of the coronavirus pandemic. The current ATP Ranking points held by a player in the Cincinnati tournament will fall from the aforementioned date and will be replaced by the points earned by the player in this year’s edition, to be played between the 15th and 22nd of that month. In addition, these units will be maintained for 52 weeks, until August 22, 2022, in the count of each tennis player. For its part, the Masters 1000 in Canada, a tournament that will take place between the 9th and the 15th of this month, will maintain the system called “Best Of”, devised in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, and which was based on freezing the ranking of players who did not participate in certain tournaments and, if so, the tennis player chose the one with the best performance and score. Moreover, as of August 15, 2022, all pandemic-related adjustments will cease and the traditional 52-week classification methodology will be fully restored.
