translated from Spanish: Mauricio Toledo asks Congress for leave; be consistent, says Prosecutor General’s Office

Legislator Mauricio Toledo asked the Chamber of Deputies for an indefinite leave of absence from the post of federal deputy, prior to the vote on his immunity.
In a document addressed to the president of the Board of Directors, Dulce María Sauri Riancho, the deputy says that he believes “in justice, but the conditions imposed on me, with authorities that do not guarantee impartial and fair treatment as established by our laws, I am forced to make this decision.”

The Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City (FGJCDMX) responded to Deputy Toledo on social networks that “if it is his will to appear before the justice and conduct himself with the truth, we urge him that once the origin of withdrawing his ilaw is declared, he should appear before the judge.”
The agency asked him to be “consistent with what was stated in his license application” and to appear before the authorities to present the arguments and evidence of his innocence.

On Tuesday, the Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office reported that it will request arrest warrants against Deputy Mauricio Toledo, accused of illicit enrichment, and Saul Huerta, who has been charged with rape and sexual abuse of minors.
This, a day after the Permanent Commission approved discussing his immunity in an extraordinary period.

Regarding the accusation against him, Toledo has said that he is the victim of political persecution and a smear campaign by the Chamber of Deputies and the Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office.
