translated from Spanish: Coahuila records 80% attendance on first day back to school

On the first day of returning to face-to-face classes in public education schools in Coahuila, 80% of students attended, said the secretary of education of the entity, Higinio González.
“It’s a very good figure (…) the teachers and managers calculated 50%, so it is a good indicator” about the return to face-to-face classes, he said in an interview with Ciro Gómez Leyva on Radio Fórmula.
He indicated that in Coahuila the mothers and fathers of the family did have to bring a responsive letter that had been written for more than a year, and it is very different from the one suggested by the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP).

“We need parents to understand that the responsibility for controlling the pandemic is at home, and if the pandemic is controlled at home we control the pandemic at school, automatically,” he said.
The official said there are parents who still don’t trust that the pandemic can be controlled at home and at the school gate and that’s why not everyone arrived.

“One school I checked, 11 children were scheduled, but only eight arrived; little by little he will be recovering.”
He maintained that if traffic light conditions changed (currently in yellow) or a chain of infections were recorded, the requirement for established protocols would be modified or the number of children per classroom would be reduced each day, “but I believe that we would not suspend them (classes).”
Higinio Gonzalez said no one with COVID symptoms was reported, although they were refusing entry for some children who had temperatures.
“Many children arrived with stress problems and some even vomited inside the classroom, I had to learn about a case, but the children were very nervous because they wanted to go back to school, which they said there.”
According to the government of Coahuila, students will attend classrooms and also develop online tasks, consultations, information, text review and research.
This, in addition to complying with health protocols, such as filters at home, entry and exit from schools; the healthy distance, ventilated rooms and correct use of the cover.
