The President leads the launch of the Interministerial Working Group “Malvinas Agenda 40 years”

President Alberto Fernández will lead today the launch of the Interministerial Working Group “Malvinas Agenda 40 years”, which will aim to develop “strategies for dissemination and awareness around national sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands”. This is what official sources told NA. The activity is scheduled at 11:00 at the San Martín Palace, headquarters of the Argentine Foreign Ministry. The president will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero; the Secretary of Malvinas, Antarctica and South Atlantic, Guillermo Carmona; and the governor of Tierra del Fuego, Gustavo Melella. In addition, the Ministers of Defense, Jorge Taiana; Culture, Tristan Bauer; Education, Jaime Perzcyck, Science, Technology and Innovation, Daniel Filmus, and Interior, Eduardo de Pedro.” The initiative, which is established within the framework of the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the South Atlantic conflict that will be fulfilled in 2022, has as its motto ‘Malvinas unites us’,” the Presidency said in a statement. Among its central axes are “the reaffirmation of Argentine sovereignty over the archipelagos; the call for the resumption of dialogue and negotiations with the United Kingdom; and the ratification of the commitment of Argentine democracy to peaceful means for the resolution of disputes and respect for international law.” It also includes “the tribute and recognition of the fallen and their families, and the veterans of the Malvinas.” The working group will be composed of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship; Defense; Culture; Education; Science, Technology and Innovation, and Interior, and will work in coordination with the National Council for Affairs Relating to the Malvinas Islands, South Georgia, the South Sandwich Islands and the corresponding maritime and island areas. Ex-combatant and family organizations, universities, observatories, and provincial and municipal governments will also join.
