CNC asked the Government for concrete actions to reduce obstacles in the entry of foreign tourists to Chile

The National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism (CNC) asked the government for concrete actions to reduce obstacles in the entry of foreign tourists to Chile.
Through a statement signed by the president of the Tourism Commission of the CNC, Tomás Sahli, he said that “we continue to have a series of problems for the entry of foreign tourists to our country despite all the announcements made by the authorities. This has been exacerbated by the slowness in the homologation of vaccines, which has caused many visitors to have lost their tickets for not having received them on time, to which it is added that problems have been generated when downloading the mobility pass code. It has also been detected that many are unaware that they must download the customs declaration that, although it has a QR code and can be taken out at the airport, contributes to further delaying the departure of the passenger. ”
In the statement, they criticized that the arrival of foreigners to Chile has become a “feat, to which it adds that all flights land at the same time so there is a great congestion in a single row to serve them all. While there are many staff and booths for attention, the first image upon arriving in the country is of a clear disorder.”
“As if this were not enough, the uncertainty regarding the opening of land borders has contributed to the tour operators having decided not to promote trips that combine both countries, leaving their passengers in Chile or Argentina, a measure that, for now, is favoring our neighbors. This means that Chile is out of the tourist market until at least October 2022,” the text adds.
In that sense, they assured that “everything described above has meant that international operators are not offering our country what has seriously affected our reputation as a tourist destination.”
“At this point, we can’t afford to have these problems with an industry that has had a very hard time and is just starting to get up. We have pointed out on countless occasions that we need certainties to reactivate the sector and with all these inconveniences is what we are delivering the least to our visitors. We need a push more and more urgently and we see that, despite having raised all these issues with the health authorities, we still do not have a definitive solution,” the statement concludes.
