The Navy Secretariat located 17 migrants of Cuban origin and two Mexicans in the vicinity of Progreso, Yucatan, in a makeshift boat, which was sinking.
The agency explained that the location was carried out after receiving an emergency call at the Command and Control Center from a foreign vessel, whose crew helped the migrants.
“The departure of two interceptor patrols of the Mexican Navy was immediately ordered to go to the designated area, carrying out the rescue of the crew,” he said in a statement.
