Minimum wage in Mexico will increase 22% from 2022

From 2022 the minimum wage in Mexico will have an increase of 22%: it will go from 141.70 to 172.87 pesos per day.
While in the Free Zone of the Northern Border it will change from 213.39 to 260.34 pesos a day.
The workers, employers and federal government sectors discussed the proposals and unanimously agreed on the increase.

In a statement, the Business Coordinating Council explained that this increase will be reflected in a real improvement in the purchasing power of workers.
With this, he said, the general minimum wage of the free zone of the northern border will cover 112% of the Family Welfare Line; and the general minimum wage for the rest of the country will cover 74%.

“It is a priority for the private sector to provide solutions to the challenges facing our country, in the face of the economic reactivation after the COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected the economy of Mexican families so much,” he said.
The Mexican economy began a recovery phase although with high levels of inflation. In the first half of November it stood at 7.05% at an annual rate, its highest level in 20 years.
The National Consumer Price Index (INPC) recorded its highest level since the second half of April 2001, when inflation stood at an annual rate of 7.08%.
