The changes that Kast is preparing to its program: Among them, not privatizing Codelco

The presidential candidate of the Christian Social Front, José Antonio Kast, gave some light on Sunday about the changes he will make to his government program, stressing that now he does not contemplate a radical tax cut, that he will not privatize Codelco and that he will not make extensive use of states of exception. In an interview with Canal 13, the standard-bearer, who is touring northern Chile, said that his idea of reducing the tax burden “is rationalized, we have had collaboration with the best and greatest economists at the national level, with whom we have met and all have pointed out that the fiscal issue of indebtedness is very serious and we have to refocus what was in the program.” Meanwhile, on his idea of making changes to Codelco, he said that “we are not going to privatize it, but with the workers we are going to improve management. I was also raised with the issue of equal income between men and women in the same function, something that we had already raised in our proposal for women, so we are in total harmony with the top leaders of the largest unions in Codelco.” Additionally, regarding the use of states of emergency and the proposals he had on the attribution to detain people in places other than prisons without a judicial order, he explained that “what we proposed in that norm was to expand to what already exists, an exceptional situation, also a product of the internal conflicts that we have experienced due to terrorism and extreme violence.”
