US issues travel alert for Mexico due to ‘high’ LEVEL OF COVID

The U.S. Department of State updated its travel alert for Mexico placing the country with a ‘level 3’, in the face of a high circulation of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
There are four levels to travel alerts issued by the State Department. ‘Level 3’ advises citizens to reconsider travel. The maximum alert level is 4, and indicates “do not travel”.
“Due to the current situation in Mexico, all travelers may be at risk of contracting and spreading variants of COVID-19,” he notes.

The document also points out that there are certain areas of Mexico that have registered an increase in the levels of violence, in particular kidnapping.

The U.S. Department asks not to travel to Colima, Guerrero, Michoacán, Sinaloa and Tamaulipas.
It asks its citizens to reconsider their trips to Baja California, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Guanajuato, Jalisco, State of Mexico, Morelos, Nayarit, Sonora and Zacatecas.

In the face of crime, he recommends caution when traveling to Aguascalientes, Baja California Sur, Chiapas, Hidalgo, CDMX, Nuevo León Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Tabasco, Tlaxcala and Veracruz.
He recommended not to travel between cities after dark and not to take taxis on the street. If you take a taxi alone, take a photo of the taxi number and/or license plate and send it by text message to a friend.
Another recommendation is to exercise caution when visiting local bars, nightclubs, and casinos, as well as avoid signs of wealth such as watches or expensive jewelry, and be careful when going to bank tellers.
He warned that there are certain areas that are prohibited or restricted, and that there are areas where emergency services are limited outside major cities.
