CUBA beat SIC and became champion of the Top 12 of the URBA

The University Club of Buenos Aires (CUBA) was consecrated today champion of the Top 12 of the URBA by beating in the final of the contest the San Isidro Club (SIC) by 10 to 9.The match, which was played on the court of the Club Atlético San Isidro (CASI), had an even first half, where the defenses of the two teams prevailed. In fact, the partial result was 6 to 3 in favor of the SIC, product of two penalties scored by Gastón Arias for the “Zanjero”, while Marcos Moroni managed to score only one for those of Villa de Mayo.

The second half was tighter and the chances of scoring points were more scarce, but in the 10th minute, wing Lucas Piña supported a try for CUBA, which was converted by Moroni.With the result 10 to 6, the SIC looked to score to limit the disadvantage. In fact, in the 17th minute, Joaquín Lamas converted a penalty in favor and left everything 10 to 9.With the minimum difference in the score, the two teams closed more in defense and looked to get closer in some against. The final moments were full of adrenaline, because with 20 seconds to go, Lamas tried a drop that was deflected by the second stick. Finally, the match ended with a tight 10 to 9 and CUBA took the title of the Top 12 of the Rugby Union of Buenos Airea (URBA) after eight years.
