Minister of Transport and lack of buses: “We may have been slow in reacting”

“We may have delays and we may have been slow in reacting, but in no way are we going to be making maneuvers to prevent people from going to vote,” said the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications on CNN, after being asked about the lack of public transport in the framework of the presidential elections. The head of the portfolio spoke about the various complaints of citizens both in communes of the Metropolitan Region, and in other cities of the country. “They deserve that apology. We are doing our best so that what remains of this afternoon they can solve their mobility problem,” he later told Bío-Bío. “Of course I wasn’t satisfied with how the system worked. It could have been solved faster with more information to people. The responsibility to communicate is ours.” Criticism of what happened came from various sectors, including the governor of the Metropolitan Region, Claudio Orrego, who pointed to the minister after the failures reported by users. “What one expects from the government, rather than entering into polemics with one of the commands, is to say ‘this is a reality, the frequencies are tricks, we are going to do something about it,'” Orrego said in conversation with Tele13.In addition, Orrego pointed to the response of the Minister of Transport who asked users to review the application of metropolitan transport. “It does not help me to refer us to a website to count buses, what we hope is that the frequency improves.”
