Aguirre says Rayados will go for Liga MX and Club World Cup

Monterrey, Mexico .- Javier Aguirre, coach of Monterrey of the Liga MX, said Wednesday that his team deserves a rematch that they will seek in 2022. “We all deserve a revenge of what happened to us the previous semester in the league, we have the Club World Cup and the local tournament to prove it,” the coach explained at a press conference. Monterrey, the most expensive team in Mexican soccer, was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Grita México A21 tournament of Liga MX, a stumble that Aguirre said they want to compensate in the Clausura 2022 and in the Club World Cup. “We can’t fare worse than how we did in the last tournament. We had a lot of injuries, despite that we got the Concachampions and now we are coming the Club World Cup,” he said. The Rayados de Monterrey won the 2021 Concacaf Champions League, so they will participate; along with Palmeiras, champion of the Libertadores, and Chelsea, monarch of the Champions League; in the Club World Cup.Read more: Liga MX: Rubens Sambueza is presented as a new player of Atlético San LuisThe strategist acknowledged some concern about the proximity of the dates in the matches of this event with those of the South American qualifier and Concacaf. “We know that the dates are tightened due to the proximity of national team matches, but we are confident that we will be able to solve that situation once the time comes.” Monterrey has in its ranks the Colombian Stefan Medina, the Chilean Sebastián Vegas and the Argentine Esteban Andrada, among the regulars to the calls of their respective selections. They are joined by the Mexicans Jesús Gallardo, César Montes, Héctor Moreno, Carlos Rodríguez and Rogelio Funes Mori, who are usually called to the selection led by the Argentine Gerardo Martino.El Monterrey will debut in the Club World Cup on February 3 against Al-Ahly of Egyptian football. Conmebol has scheduled playoff matches on January 27, 28, and February 1. In Concacaf, Mexico will play on January 27 against Jamaica, on January 30 against Costa Rica and on February 2 against Panama.Despite the proximity of the dates, Aguirre hoped to have enough staff to not resent the absences that cannot be avoided. “We are ready to face the league and the Club World Cup, because there are fewer competitions, only World Cup qualifiers so there will be fewer trips, we will be more rested and with fewer injuries, that will allow us to have a more complete squad.”
