The 2022 League Cup was drawn: The classics will be played on Date 7

After the official confirmation that the start of the competition is postponed one more date, the managers of Argentine football attended in person or virtually the draw for the 2022 League Cup that has 28 contending teams, will add to the average and will give a new national cup title. In this sense, in the first instance the zones were defined with the presence of Diego Maradona Jr. in the bolillero, where most of the so-called teams were in Zone A with River, Racing and San Lorenzo, while in Zone B they will be Independiente and Boca, in a tournament of 14 dates, quarters, semis and final. In this sense, one of the first clarifications given by the Professional League was the choice of the date of classics. The interzonal matches will be played on Date 7 based on an explanation of two parameters: “it is right in the middle of the Cup and on that date there is no international calendar,” they said.
As for the defined zones, Zone A is made up of Argentinos Jrs., Atlético Tucumán, Banfield, Defensa y Justicia, Gimnasia de La Plata, Newell’s Old Boys, Patronato, Platense, Racing Club, River Plate, San Lorenzo, Sarmiento de Junín, Talleres and Unión de Santa Fe.On the other side, in Zone B, Aldosivi, Arsenal, Barracas Central, Boca Juniors, appear, Central Córdoba, Colón de Santa Fe, Estudiantes de La Plata, Godoy Cruz, Huracán, Independiente, Lanús, Rosario Central, Tigre and Vélez Sársfield.As for the fixture of the competition, it will begin on the weekend of Sunday, February 13 and will end on May 22, the date on which the final will be played.
