Body of 3-month-old baby found in prison trash in Puebla

The body of a baby, approximately three months old, was found in the garbage of the San Miguel prison, located in the city of Puebla.
The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Puebla (FGE) reported that it was on Monday when the body of the male baby was located, which presented a surgery at the abdominal level.
The agency reported that an investigation folder is open and the case is continuing.

Saskia Niño de Rivera, president of the organization ReInserta, denounced the death of the minor and said that he entered a family visit.
“The baby did not live in the prison, he entered, he came to visit, it is suspected that he died inside the prison, they do not specify if he was murdered, they only report that he had a wound in the abdomen,” he said in an interview with Ciro Gómez Leyva, on Radio Fórmula.

In a statement, the organization ReInserta denounced that the death of the minor went unnoticed and that it was an inmate of the same prison who notified the fact “when he was found in the garbage containers of this prison.”
So they condemned the fact and affirmed that the authorities, headed by Governor Miguel Barbosa Huerta, are completely overwhelmed to maintain control of the prison.
They denounced the lack of protocols for admission and safe spaces for minors who are directly or indirectly in contact with prisons.
“We condemn the lack of implementation of the admission protocols and the lack of safe spaces so that children who are directly or indirectly in contact with prisons can live with their families safely.
“These minors are constantly exposed to violence resulting from the neglect of the authority inside the Penitentiary Centers. This normalization of violence has repercussions and endangers their lives,” the organization said.
