Trans activist Natalia Lane stabbed inside a hotel in Mexico City

Trans activist and sex worker Natalia Cruz (known as Natalia Lane) was attacked with a knife early Sunday morning at a hotel near the Portales metro station in Mexico City.
In a video shared on her social media profiles, Natalia narrates that she was attacked while inside the Diana Hotel, on the Tlalpan road.
“They stabbed me in the back of the head and I’m feeling very bad,” said the young woman, who asked the justice agencies to find the person responsible.

After the attack, authorities in Mexico City indicated that support has already been requested from the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Investigation of the Crime of Feminicide, the Council to Prevent and Eliminate Discrimination – of which Natalia is a member as a consultative assemblyman – and the General Directorate of Sexual Diversity and Human Rights.

According to the Secretariat of Inclusion and Social Welfare, the video where the young woman narrates what happened was taken aboard an ambulance, so she is already receiving medical attention.

“Natalia is in the Emergency Area of the Balbuena Hospital, where she is accompanied by Ulises Pineda, Diversity Coordinator of the General Directorate of Sexual Diversity and Human Rights, as well as Rocío Suárez, director of the Center for Support to Trans Identities,” the agency said.
For these facts, the general director of Attention to Victims of Crime, Nahyeli Ortíz, notified that an investigation folder will be opened.
The Trans Identities Support Center, for its part, notified that Natalia is stable and out of danger.
