Presidential delegate of Antofagasta on truck driver crime: “Let’s be categorical and clear; criminals out”

The murder registered yesterday to the truck driver, Bryron Castillo, by Venezuelan citizens in Antofagasta shocked both the citizens and the union. Given this, the presidential delegate of the region, Daniel Agusto, referred to the problem that affects the north of the country.
In conversation with Radio ADN, the regional authority thanked the quick action of the police to capture the suspects: “Visual records of witnesses are being investigated. There were trucks on the road at that time.”

Agusto was critical of the way in which the problem of migration has been handled: “There is a sector of the opposition that they rejected when the government began with the expulsions. We hope that today they will live up to it and that more than criticism, try to apply the new Immigration Law. We must remove from this country all those who commit crimes.”
“We don’t want these criminals in Chile, we want them out. And we don’t want pro-immigrant organizations to come and defend the indefensible, because sometimes they filed appeals in the courts and the courts began to welcome them,” he added.
In addition, he stressed that “we expect the support of all sectors” and that “we are categorical and clear: the criminals out.”
Governor’s annoyance
The governor of the Antofagasta region, Ricardo Díaz, also had words for what happened in the north. The authority blamed the Executive, pointing out in a statement that “we have a misgovernment that does not guarantee a regularized migration process.”
“You have to make decisions and you have to be able to assure the second region that we will have peace of mind and security. This cannot continue President. You have to ensure safe traffic on the roads of Antofagasta and this has to be done by you,” Diaz said.
In addition, he blamed all political actors on the migration crisis: “It is very easy to criticize. The best example is that this government carried out the new Immigration Law with great difficulty, and parliamentarians from the Frente Amplio went to the Constitutional Court to challenge one of the articles, that of redirection, which means that people who enter irregularly are immediately returned to their countries.”
“There are many responsible, also the courts of Justice that welcomed all these resources,” he concluded.
