They postpone, once again, hearing for the case of Line 12 of the Metro

At the request of the Attorney General’s Office (FGJ), the hearing for the collapse of Line 12 of the Metro was postponed again, this time to May 2, a day before the one-year anniversary of the collapse of a part of the elevated viaduct of the gold line in which 26 people lost their lives and at least 90 others were injured.
The legal representatives of the victims confirmed that it will be until May 2 at 10:00 a.m. when they try, for the third time, to carry out the hearing, because the first time, on October 25, Enrique Horcasitas, former head of the Metro Project, was not present because he said he had symptoms of COVID-19 and the legal representatives of the victims affirmed that they had not had access to the case file.
On December 3, the former official and nine other people went before the judge to participate in the initial hearing after the FGJ decided to prosecute the investigation folder, however, the judge decided to defer it to this March 7 because the legal representatives of the victims demanded to know the reparation agreement that the capital government had signed with the companies that built Line 12, including Grupo Carso.

CDMX is left without a commissioner for victim care
Armando Ocampo Zambrano, head of the Commission for Attention to Victims (CEAVI) in Mexico City and who was in charge of the care of the victims of the tragedy of Line 12 of the Metro resigned from his position to join the federal government.
According to the capital’s government, Ocampo Zambrano will hold the position of deputy federal prosecutor for amparos in the Attorney General’s Office of the Federation.
The capital authorities ruled out that the now former official has been removed from his position, as stated by Christopher Estupiñan, legal representative of 20 of the victims and relatives of the collapse of the gold line.

“We celebrate the dismissal of the head of CEAVI, Armando Ocampo, to whom we wish success in his new slogan and we thank the Government of Mexico and the President of the Republic for the attention to the families of the victims and their problems. We regret that during the development of these processes the commissioner has taken a personal battle against our legal counsel to the extent of creating public confrontations between the two,” the litigant said in a statement.
The Governing Board of CEAVI appointed Alejandra Morales Collins as Interim Commissioner of the Commission while the Congress of Mexico City elects the shortlist that will be presented to the Head of Government, Claudia Sheinbaum to be appointed the new head of the institution.
