Trailer abandoned with migrants in Monclova, Coahuila; pregnant woman dies

At least 160 migrants traveling in the box of a trailer, which was abandoned, were rescued in Monclova, Coahuila; a pregnant woman lost her life, said the Undersecretary of Public Security, Ricardo Mejía.
In a morning conference, he said that it is estimated that between 200 and 250 people were in the trailer; indicated that investigations will be carried out for the crime of migrant smuggling.
“They left the trailer abandoned and fortunately they were able to free themselves otherwise the consequences would be more serious,” he said.

On the fact, the National Institute of Migration said, this Sunday, that they rescued 64 migrants, but that dozens more were going, who would have dispersed.

He explained that the woman who died was Nicaraguan and, according to the first medical report, the cause of death was due to multi-organ dysfunction syndrome.
“The incident was recorded at 5:40 a.m., after yesterday he entered the hospital with a pregnancy that was diagnosed with fetal death; the INM will cover the expenses for funeral services and those generated by the repatriation of the body, in case their relatives so decide,” said the INM.
In a statement, he reported that of the 64 migrants they have knowledge of, they are originally from Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala and Cuba; 14 are hospitalized, most for severe dehydration.

The Institute reported that it will deliver visitor cards for humanitarian reasons to all rescued people and will support and provide humanitarian aid to those who left the trailer box and dispersed in the territory.
