The governors of Morena supported the response of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and rejected the resolution of the European Parliament that asks Mexico to guarantee the protection of journalists and human rights defenders, considering that the real reason for the “biased” pronouncement is to intervene in Mexico’s energy policy.
In a joint statement, the politicians condemned the resolution that they described as “interventionist”, “uninformed” and that severely damages national dignity.
They supported the president’s position, considering that the old obsession with intervening in the affairs of other peoples persists.
“Those who issued the biased pronouncement within the European Parliament never spoke out against the iron media siege to which our social movement and our current president were subjected, in the face of the proven electoral frauds of 2006 and 2012 by those who had our country as their property,” they said.
The 18 Moreno leaders assured that Mexico is living the era of greater freedom of expression in its history and that the real reason for the “biased” pronouncement is to seek to cover up their interest in distorting the energy reform initiative.

“We consider unacceptable the attempt to intervene in the energy policy of our country under the pretext of human rights and freedoms.”
They pointed out that Francisco Millán Mon, a member of the European Conservative Party, addressed the “true” reason for this pronouncement by saying that “(In Mexico) there is no legal security for companies, this lack is suffered, for example, by foreign investments in the energy sector, including European companies.”
That is why they considered it “regrettable” that the defense of press freedom is used as a pretext.

Finally, they expressed a “fraternal greeting” to the peoples of Europe and a total readiness to forge a lasting peace, based on respect, dialogue and cooperation.

Senators see campaign against AMLO’s government
Meanwhile, a group of senators from Morena rejected the resolution of the European Parliament on March 10.
“In fact, he aligns himself with those who, from Mexico and abroad, have undertaken a political campaign against the current Mexican government, legally and legitimately constituted.”
“This campaign aims to preserve privileges for a minority that feels entitled to practice corruption and the plundering of national public goods, to which are added the diverse interests of some multinationals that feel affected by the sovereign energy policy promoted by the government of the Republic,” the senators said.
For his part, the president of the Political Coordination Board of the Senate, Ricardo Monreal, formally asked the president of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola Tedesco, to hold a high-level meeting to “dialogue and resolve differences” on what is happening in Mexico regarding violence and the murders of journalists.
Within the framework of parliamentary diplomacy, yesterday I sent a letter to the President of the European Parliament, to express our disagreement with her resolution on Mexico, and I propose a high-level meeting to dialogue and resolve differences. I share the letter. pic.twitter.com/B91x3nvZ4p
