A man accused of grooming is arrested in Jujuy

A man accused of grooming was arrested in a neighborhood of San Salvador de Jujuy, as part of a raid carried out by the police, according to police sources on Sunday. The procedure, carried out days ago and released today, was in charge of the Capture Division of the Investigation Brigade of the Jujuy Police, in compliance with the court order. During the raid, police officers searched an address on Abra de Rachaite Street in the El Chingo neighborhood, where a man, of legal age, accused of committing a cybercrime, was arrested.” Having a house search order signed by a competent judge, they entered the home in search of the main suspect and evidentiary material regarding a grooming case initiated on February 11, “they said from the police security force. In the house, five cell phones with memory card and chip, two computers, a notebook, two pendrives, a camera, a PlayStation 3 and five CD-DVDs were seized. Likewise, the police indicated that, after his arrest, the accused “had to appear at the headquarters of the Investigation Brigade to inform him of the reasons for the apprehension and the prohibitive measure of approach to the victim that governs against him”.
According to official information, grooming is defined as “the deliberate action of an adult to sexually harass a child or adolescent through a digital medium that allows interaction between two or more people, such as social networks, email, text messages, chat sites or online games.” Adults who carry out this type of criminal practices usually have various false profiles, posing as a child or adolescent, seeking to generate a relationship of friendship and trust with minors. In Argentina, grooming is a crime punishable by law, which can be the prelude to other crimes, such as:
Obtaining material of sexual abuse or exploitation against children
Generate personal encounters with children or adolescents with intentions to commit physical sexual abuse.
Commercialization in networks of sexual exploitation against children and adolescents.

Cyberbullying can be reported with a call to 137, a toll-free hotline for the entire country.
