Restaurant explodes in Playa del Carmen, leaves 19 injured and 2 dead

On Monday, there was the explosion of a gas tank in the kitchen of the Kool Beach restaurant, in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, which left 19 people injured and 2 dead.
The Secretary of Public Security of the state, Lucio Hernández Gutiérrez, reported that the explosion was due to an accumulation of gas and that emergency bodies are currently working in the area.
So far, there are four people in serious condition who are being treated at the Playa del Carmen General Hospital; another eight are being treated at the Playamed Hospital and four more at the IMSS Hospital, explained the state Secretary of Health, Alejandra Aguirre.

Through social networks, the National Guard announced that it activated the ‘Plan A’, with the aim of supporting the affected population, in coordination with different authorities and rescue bodies. This, added to the perimeter security they deployed in the area.
For its part, the Prosecutor’s Office of Quintana Roo initiated an investigation folder for the gas explosion, which originated in the kitchen of the Kool Beach restaurant, located in the municipality of Solidaridad.
