The highest court of the UN prepares its verdict on the cessation of the Russian invasion

Ukraine continues to exhaust instances at a time when relations with Russia and negotiations are not progressing as expected and this week the long-awaited final report of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the highest court of the United Nations (UN), will be given. A few days ago, the representatives of the government led by Volodymyr Zelensky, expressed themselves before this world entity with the request that it intervene for a cessation of the invasion from the forces of the Kremlin, in addition to other accusations regarding war crimes. The answer was made to wait and now there is a scheduled date.” A public session will take place at 16 (noon in Argentina) at the Peace Palace, in The Hague, in which the president of the Court, Judge Joan Donoghue, will read the ordinance, “was the response that came on this issue, and it will be held this Wednesday, March 16.
In its lawsuit, filed on February 26, the Ukrainian government accused Russia of planning acts of genocide in its country and intentionally killing people, acts that have not been investigated or confirmed, despite strong news coming from different cities under attack. After the formal presentation at the UN, Russia was summoned by the entity, but declined to appear last week to hearings scheduled within the framework of the process, on a Court that has a strong influence worldwide but that presents certain grays. The trials of the International Court of Justice, created in 1946 with the aim of managing conflicts between States, are mandatory and without giving rise to any kind of appeals, but the ICJ has no way of enforcing the reported rulings.
