Students demonstrate in the Alameda for cases of sexual abuse and harassment: they are on their way to mineduc

After a week of new complaints of sexual harassment and abuse in high schools and colleges in Santiago and Providencia, students have gathered again in Baquedano Square to march to the Ministry of Education.
These complaints became known when a group of male adolescents of the Liceo Lastarria, began to disseminate intimate photographs of underage girls in a WhatsApp group that intended to imitate -and was called- “La Manada”, a case that came to light after the students of said school protested inside the facilities, which was echoed in other schools, so a massive march was called.
The young women set the meeting point in the epicenter of demonstrations in Santiago with the intention of reaching the Ministry of Education located in the Alameda meters from the palace of La Moneda. While another group would meet at another point in Los Héroes.
For the Mineduc, the schoolchildren intend to deliver a petition that talks about the measures they ask for to address this type of situation in the establishments.
The complaints caused a stir when it was learned that more than a year ago a project was filed to include a gender perspective in Chilean education, however, despite its approval, from the ministerial authorities, there have been no materialization of measures to counteract gender biases in the classrooms. Likewise, the mayor of Providencia, Evelyn Matthei, today declared to the morning of Channel 13 to have the conviction that the administration and school authorities must be aware of these situations and that they have not taken measures in this regard.
