The “Bronco” is linked to process

Former governor Jaime Rodríguez Calderón, the “Bronco”, was linked to the process for possible electoral crimes.
The link to the process occurred in a hearing held this Wednesday in the Apodaca prison. The precautionary measure that will be issued has yet to be defined.
Rodríguez Calderón was arrested on Tuesday by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in Electoral Crimes (FEDE) of Nuevo León, as well as by elements of the State Investigation Agency and the Civil Force.

The former governor of Nuevo León is accused of diverting public resources to promote his political aspirations. In 2018, he used officials from his administration to gather signatures of citizen support for his independent candidacy for the presidency, as documented by the National Electoral Institute (INE).
Despite those actions, known since then as the case of the “Broncofirmas”, Rodríguez Calderón was able to compete in the 2018 presidential elections. In them, he came in last place.

On Wednesday morning, his lawyer, Víctor Oléa, said in interviews with the media that there were irregularities in his detention and announced that he would seek that the former governor be free.

Rodríguez Calderón governed Nuevo León between October 2015 and October 2021. He won that position as an independent candidate, the same figure he used to compete for the Presidency of the Republic in 2018.
For several years he was a militant of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), with which he was mayor of the municipality of García.
