The former Chilean international referee, Carlos Chandía, will resume his duties as mayor of Coihueco next week, after the serious accident suffered on July 15, 2021, when he was driving his vehicle in the Ñuble Region.

Chandía was discharged in September last year, initiating a gradual recovery process in Santiago that is being successfully completed.

The current communal chief of Coihueco was a professional referee between 2001 and 2009, being considered one of the best in Chile, then dabbling in politics and becoming mayor in 2012.
