The colors of the Argentine flag shone on both sides of the entrance to the government headquarters and on one side of the façade, a map of the Falkland Islands flashing as part of the tributes on the Day of veterans and ex-combatants of the war.

President Alberto Fernández reiterated today the demand to the United Kingdom to comply with the UN resolutions to resume dialogue on the sovereignty of the Malvinas Islands and asked it to “abandon the unjustified military presence” in the archipelago, while recognizing the “unparalleled courage” of the ex-combatants.

Leading this afternoon at the Malvinas Museum, located on the premises of the former ESMA, the central act for the Day of the Veteran, the Veteran and the Fallen in the conflict of 1982, the President emphasized: “May the ex-combatants of malvinas never again fall into oblivion and silence on the part of any government.”

The event was attended by the former presidents of Uruguay, José “Pepe” Mujica; from Bolivia, Evo Morales and paraguay, Fernando Lugo, as well as war veterans and relatives of the fallen, Mothers of Plaza de Mayo, ministers and officials of the national cabinet, the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Massa; and the governor of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, among others.

Meanwhile, Vice President Cristina Fernández said that in “the defense of the interests of the homeland there is no question of ideology” and called to differentiate “the disputes of political disputes from what is inalienable” for the country, when leading a tribute in Congress to the legislative workers who fought in the War with Great Britain.
