3 Chimalhuacán police officers investigated for alleged injuries to feminist

The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) initiated ex officio an investigation folder for the crime of injuries to the detriment of a woman, who, according to complaints from feminist groups, would have been arrested and beaten on April 1 by traffic police of Chimalhuacán.
For these facts, three policewomen of the General Directorate of Citizen Security and Municipal Traffic of Chimalhuacán are being investigated, who were placed at the disposal of the Agent of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office of Nezahualcóyotl.

In an information card, the FGJEM indicated that in the investigations a doctor legislates and the Investigation Police intervene, to demarcate responsibilities.

The announcement of the investigation folder and the arrest of the police occurred after feminist collectives held a sit-in in the vicinity of the Chimalhuacán Justice Center to demand justice for their partner, who, according to the demonstrators, was repressed by municipal police.
According to the Aequus-Promotion and Defense of Human Rights Collective, early Sunday morning, Lidia Florencio and Irinea Buendía, both mothers of women victims of femicide, were injured by plainclothes police officers.
“The context of this repression is the legitimate actions called by the comrades of the feminist movement and relatives of victims of femicidal violence, in the demand for truth and justice due to the arbitrary detention of a compañera, who was also severely beaten,” the collective said in a statement.
