Co-participation: the City considered the Nation’s proposal insufficient

The meeting between the representatives of the National Government and the City was held for the transfers of the co-participation funds and in this case a new proposal was given that was not approved by the Buenos Aires delegates, considering it very low. In this sense, it was reported that “the City was left to take a new proposal of amount next Wednesday to begin analyzing it” to comply with the deadline of 30 working days that the Supreme Court of Justice set for them to reach an agreement.

“They (Nation) made a proposal, but the City did not accept it. We did not take their proposal, but we are going to present a new one,” they officially assured and remarked that it was “an amount that was not even within the scope of the analysis.” On the other hand, it was highlighted that “there was a principle of agreement” in the method of transfer of national funds to the City that would be outside the co-participation, in addition to how that item will be updated annually (80% by salary indicator and 20% by inflation index). Nación, on the other hand, squeezes with the issue of times and ensures that the negotiation of the amount has some limits, such as not paying for the City Police more than what the federal forces cost. “It is one of the police with the largest per capita budget in the world, and one thing is to finance the transfer from the national State and another is to finance all the police of the City,” they said.
