Pope Francis lamented that the war in Ukraine “hit a lot” to Europe

In the context of the war between Russia and Ukraine, Pope Francis again referred to the war and maintained that it “hits a lot” to Europe and also regretted other world confrontations for which “the world is at war.” In this sense, the pontiff was interviewed by an Italian media and assured that “a writer said that Jesus Christ is in agony until the end of the world, he is in agony in his children, in his brothers, especially in the poor, in the marginalized, in the poor people who cannot defend themselves.”

In addition, he pointed out the conflict initiated by Russia and said: “At this moment, in Europe, this war hits us a lot. But let’s look a little further.” “The world is at war. Syria, Yemen, and then think of the Rohingya, expelled, without a homeland. Everywhere there is war. The Rwandan genocide 25 years ago,” he lamented. He also said that “the world has chosen, it is hard to say, but it has chosen the pattern of Cain and the war is to implement Cainism, that is, to kill the brother.” Finally, he remarked that he will lead tonight the traditional Via Crucis in the Roman Colosseum, as part of the Easter celebrations.
