The PVEM expels deputy for voting against the electricity reform

The Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM) expelled from its ranks Deputy Alexis Gamiño, a legislator who voted against President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s electricity reform.
In a tweet, the DEPUTY announced the party’s decision and maintained that she will never vote out of loyalty to a party or a person.
“At first I naively thought that with my environmental issues the party with which I most coincided was the ‘Green Ecologist’ party. For raising my voice and not following blind obedience, I have just been notified that I have been expelled from the party,” she posted.

Prior to the vote in the Chamber of Deputies, where the electricity reform did not reach the qualified majority, Alexis Garmiño not only questioned the president’s initiative, he also criticized the megaprojects of the Mayan Train and the Dos Bocas Refinery, for their environmental impacts.
