The CNDH receives its headquarters on República de Cuba Street

The Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City (FGJCDMX) handed over the property on the street of República de Cuba to the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) on Monday, after it was evicted by capital police last Friday. 
On Tuesday, commission staff conducted tours with means to show the conditions in which the building was found at the time of receiving it. 
In addition, in the afternoon, lawyers from the legal area of the CNDH will enter to carry out a survey of damages and check the status of files that were before the seizure. 

The CNDH building was taken over in September 2020 by a group of feminists. Demonstrators acted as a protest to demand the resolution of cases of violence against women. 
After 19 months, the police entered the building, after the complaint of a driver whose car was hit by women who had taken over the headquarters of the autonomous body. 
At the moment, the building is still guarded by elements of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of the CDMX. Quartermaster personnel also arrived to clean the interior. 

Inside, in addition to an altar to Santa Muerte, there were beds in the offices, mattresses, clothes, pantry and toys. Painted slogans can be seen on the walls.

On Friday, during the operation to recover the building, three women were arrested. Yesterday, a judge linked them to trial for the crime of drug dealing, although their defense assures that the charges are fabricated.
