Covid-19: Minsal confirms 24 deaths and 2,539 new infections in the last day

The Ministry of Health reported on 2,539 new cases of Covid-19 in Chile, with a positivity of 5.16% in the last 24 hours nationwide, after the completion of 50,792 PCR tests and antigen tests. The daily positivity in the Metropolitan Region is 7.13%.
The variation of new confirmed cases at the national level is -19% and -47% for the comparison of seven and 14 days, respectively. Meanwhile, 14 regions decreased their cases in the last seven days and all did so in the last two weeks.
Of the 2,539 new cases, 29% are diagnosed by antigen test, 46% originate by Active Case Finding (BAC) and 19% of those reported are asymptomatic. As for the Metropolitan Region, it presents 22% by antigen, 42% by BAC and 16% of reported cases are asymptomatic.
According to sampling, the regions with the highest positivity in the last week are O’Higgins, Magallanes, Valparaíso and Metropolitana.
Meanwhile, the Magallanes region has the highest current incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by the regions of Aysén, Valparaíso and Metropolitana.

According to today’s report, of the total number of new cases of Covid-19, 1,438 correspond to symptomatic people and 344 have no symptoms. In addition, there were 757 positive PCR tests that were not reported.
The total number of people who have been diagnosed with the virus in the country reaches 3,544,463. Of that total, 10,696 patients are in the active stage. The recovered cases are 3,477,523.
As for the deaths, according to the information provided by the DEIS, in the last 24 hours there were 24 deaths due to causes associated with the coronavirus. The total number of deaths in the country is 57,375.
To date, 286 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 207 are supported by mechanical ventilation. In relation to the Integrated Health Network, there is a total of 335 critical beds available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where he or she is.
Regarding the Laboratory Network and diagnostic capacity, yesterday the results of 50,792 PCR tests and antigen tests were reported, reaching to date a total of 36,711,724 analyzed nationwide. The positivity for the last 24 hours at the country level is 5.16% and in the Metropolitan Region it is 7.13%.
With respect to the Health Residences, we have 30 lodging facilities, with 2,915 total beds. The actual occupancy nationwide is 26%, leaving a total of 1,785 beds available to be used.
