18 people sentenced for kidnapping migrants in San Fernando, Tamaulipas

The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) obtained from the second district court of federal criminal proceedings in Tamaulipas the conviction against 18 people related to the kidnapping of migrants in the municipality of San Fernando.
The sentences imposed range from 13 years to 58 years in prison, the agency said.
The FGR indicated that the evidence obtained from the proceedings carried out by the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office, of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the Field of Organized Crime (FEMDO), allowed a conviction to be issued against the detainees.

According to the agency, the sentenced kidnapped the migrants, aboard passenger trucks, whom the criminal organization known as “Los Zetas” deprived of their liberty and forced them to work for them.
If there was a refusal from the migrants, they would kill them and then bury them in clandestine graves in San Fernando, Tamaulipas.
