Nike celebrates half a century of innovation and inspiration

During these 50 years, innovation has been the DNA of the brand, generating new possibilities through content, services and experiences in its physical and digital ecosystems. With this celebration, Nike challenges itself and invites everyone to be inspired and go for more. “At Nike, we have an innate desire to be better. What sets us apart is how we express that culture of innovation. The voice of our brand inspires us all to be champions of progress. For our first 50 years, Nike has been the champion of sport and athletes around the world, because we believe in the power of sport to move the world forward. Looking ahead to our next 50 years, we will continue to innovate to serve the future of athletes and sport,” said DJ van Hameren, Chief Marketing Officer, Nike inc. In its first half-century, Nike’s impact has gone beyond inspiration. Through sport, he has worked to take action and create a better world. The voice of the Nike brand sparks a global conversation and inspires everyone to break down barriers in the areas where change is most needed: from protecting the planet to creating active communities for equality.  Throughout its 50 years Nike has set milestones, not only sporting, but also in popular culture around the world. He accompanied and accompanies athletes of the highest level who have marked a before and after in their disciplines such as Andre Agassi, Michael Jordan, Joan Benoit, Ronaldo Nazario, Tiger Woods, Megan Rapinoe or Naomi Osaka, among many others. Some of these iconic Nike stories will be told uniquely, only as the brand can tell them, both in retail and digital.

Nike has globally unveiled its new commemorative commercial “Seen It All,” directed by and starring filmmaker Spike Lee, which re-edits his iconic role as Mars Blackmon from his film “She’s Gotta Have It.” The piece celebrates the strength of Nike’s past and the promise of our future. The brand’s new commercial begins with Mars passionately commenting on the epic sporting moments and iconic athletes of the past 50 years, and then addresses a young and confident protagonist named Zimmie who conveys the raw optimism, pure energy and limitless potential that can be found in the next 50 years of sport. The film brings together more than 40 iconic and legendary athletes, including Steve Prefontaine, Andre Agassi, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, Ken Griffey, Joan Benoit Samuelson, Ronaldo Nazario, Ronaldinho, Cristiano Ronaldo, Liu Xiang, Charles Barkley, Mia Hamm, Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, Blake Leeper, Serena Williams, Lisa Leslie, Cynthia Cooper, Sheryl Swoopes Kobe Bryant, Colin Kaepernick, Bo Jackson,  Lebron James, Kirk Gibson, Rafa Nadal, Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird, Kevin Durant, George Gervin, Michael Jordan, Ja Morant, Rayssa Leal, Chen Ye, Sky Brown, Chloe Kim, Naomi Osaka, Kylian Mbappe, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Athing Mu, Luka Doncic, Sabrina Ionescu, Sam Kerr, Reilyn Turner and Joe Burrow, according to their order of appearance.
