They will change the driving test to have the driver’s license in the City

The Government of the City of Buenos Aires will implement changes in the practical and theoretical exams to obtain the driver’s license, among them, it is highlighted that the driving test will be carried out in the streets and not in closed circuits, with the aim that the aspirants can be evaluated in everyday street situations. While there is no precise date for implementation, the new format will take effect from next semester. For now, the management academies are already enabled to carry out practices and classes in the streets of the City, except for the avenues and blocks with educational establishments, health centers, police stations, fire stations, or streets of the macro and microcenter. In this way, the practical exam that until now was carried out at the headquarters of Roca Avenue, in a closed circuit, will begin to be carried out in another armed in the middle of a public road. There the “Management Technique”, the “Respect for the rules” and the “Coexistence of other actors” will be evaluated. Meanwhile, the Roca facilities will continue to be the scene of examinations for aspiring motorcycle drivers and cargo drivers. On the other hand, the course of granting and the renewal of driver’s license will be taught virtually, which would allow a greater number of applicants who take a class simultaneously, and make it more comfortable and easier to attend its entirety. In addition, the level of demand will be raised, since the questions will become 40 instead of 30, and the percentage of correct answers needed will be 85% (now it is 75%). As for the medical area, for the psychophysical examination a more extensive semi-directed interview will be incorporated with the aim of delving into the indicators that could interfere with the ability to drive. And questions about sleep disorders or apneas will also be added. In turn, they will change the validity of driver’s licenses: for drivers from 16 to 39 years old it will be up to ten; from 40 to 49, up to six; from 50 to 69, up to four, and from 70, from two. To carry out this decision, a fleet of double command vehicles will be contracted in an outsourced manner through the Ministry of Public Transport. 70% of those rolled will have manual boxes and 30%, automatic transmission, according to government sources.
