Siches by State of Exception: highlights decrease in violent events and states that from “five average events a day, this has been reduced to three”

The Minister of the Interior Izkia Siches, held on Thursday the weekly meeting with the Minister of Defense, Maya Fernández, and representatives of the Armed Forces (FF.AA.) and police, which aims to take stock of the State of Exception in force in the provinces of Biobío and Arauco, in the Biobío region, and throughout La Araucanía.  After the meeting, the Secretary of State highlighted the decrease in acts of violence.
“The reduction is still quite short deadlines, plus minus 15 days, but of five average events a day that we had prior to the constitutional State of Exception this has been reduced to three, they are acts of less violence and also magnitude,” said the head of Interior in a press point from La Moneda.
However, he pointed out that the “final destination of our administration” is “to dismantle the gangs and follow the preventive actions.”
“We take a positive assessment of the efforts that are being made for the operational actions of both the police forces and the Armed Forces. We also reviewed the various agreements we made last Thursday,” Siches added.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Defense said that this is the State of Exception where “we have had more effective, and we currently have the same in vehicles and it must be said clearly, and also in the technology that is being applied.”
Likewise, the Minister of Interior indicated that on Thursday of the next one they will make a recommendation to President Gabriel Boric on whether or not to continue with the State of Emergency in the area.
“We have different operational units, review of information and review of the strategies that we are carrying out as a Government, and our task for next Thursday is to make the recommendation to the President on whether to continue the extension of the State of Emergency,” Said Siches.
