The INE asks political actors to allow free elections

A day before the local elections to renew the governorship of six states, the counselor president of the National Electoral Institute (INE), Lorenzo Córdova, asked all political actors to act in accordance with the law and allow the free development of the contest.
“To political parties, candidates, civil servants of the three levels of government, legislators and public actors in general, I make a new call to live up to the civic vocation of Mexicans and allow the will of citizens to express themselves freely on this day,” Cordova said Saturday in a video message.

To the citizens of Aguascalientes, Durango, Hidalgo, Oaxaca, Quintana Roo and Tamaulipas I make an attentive call to vote tomorrow. There are full guarantees for the exercise of free voting.

This Sunday, June 5, Aguascalientes, Durango, Hidalgo, Oaxaca, Quintana Roo and Tamaulipas will have elections to renew their respective governorships.
Cordova recalled that anyone can report possible electoral crimes, such as attempts to buy and coerce the vote.
He also said that on Sunday night there will be two instruments to know preliminary results: the Preliminary Electoral Results Programs (PREP) and the quick counts that will be announced in each entity. 

He emphasized that this information, although it will be reliable, will not replace the official results, which will start from the calculations that will begin on Wednesday, June 8.
“The electoral authorities declare ourselves ready for this civic day,” said Córdova, and insisted that the “commitment” of all political actors is required for the day to develop in an “exemplary” way.
