Mexico adds 36 thousand cases of COVID-19 in a week

In one week, Mexico added another 36,131 cases of COVID-19, an amount 94.89% higher than the increase that had occurred in the immediately previous week, according to figures from the Ministry of Health updated this afternoon.
The agency reported last Monday that the country had accumulated 18,539 infections in seven days.
Now, with the new data, the total of accumulated cases so far in the pandemic stands at 5 million 825 thousand 532.

The number of people killed added another 205 records in a week, bringing the current total to 325,205.
After almost two years and four months of pandemic, Mexico has gone through four waves of infections and specialists point out that a fifth may occur.

Health authorities, meanwhile, recognize an uptick, although they maintain that the number of people hospitalized for serious illness and deaths is not growing at the same rate. 
This is attributed to the fact that a high percentage of the population is already vaccinated and protected against severe COVID-19.
The Ministry of Health reported last Monday that it would resume its daily technical reports, after acknowledging that there was an uptick in infections.
The Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell, recently told the media that Mexico must prepare for COVID-19 to become an endemic disease with which citizens must deal.
