AMLO will send next week initiative to eliminate daylight saving time

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reported that next week he will send to Congress the initiative to eliminate daylight saving time.
He explained that the Ministry of the Interior conducted a survey where 71% of the interviewed population believes that summer time should be removed.
In a press conference, he said that he will continue to send initiatives and if the opposition does not want to vote or rejects them – because of the moratorium declared by the opposition – he has already fulfilled his duty.

“I am going to continue sending initiatives to Congress because I have to comply. I’m going to send an initiative so that there is no longer the schedule change, next week, to any of the cameras, but I’m going to send it,” he said.

After the June 5 elections, the parties of the opposition alliance Va por México announced that they will reject all the constitutional reforms proposed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Morena, as they consider them harmful to the country.
The leaders of the PAN, Marko Cortés; of the PRI, Alejandro Moreno, and of the PRD, Jesus Zambrano, said they agreed to establish “a constitutional moratorium,” meaning they will close the door to any possible changes to the Constitution.
In a press conference on Wednesday, López Obrador indicated that he will also send – without setting a date – the initiative of the National Guard and that of the Electoral Reform.
He reminded opposition lawmakers that party leaders are not their bosses and that they do not represent a party, but are representatives of the people and that they are not “sheep.”
On June 1, the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador released three documents that summarize the analyses it made of daylight saving time, in force in Mexico since 1996, and with which it seeks to support its intention to abolish this measure.
The papers focus on two aspects of daylight saving time: its health effects and its economic effects.
Opposition leaders are promoters of transformation: AMLO
The federal president said that the leaders of the Va Por México alliance seem to be the promoters of the transformation.
He pointed out that the parties of the alliance – PRI, PAN and PRD – have very bad leaders and advisers.
“If I were to act in bad faith, I would even say keep the same leaders of these parties there, because they help us, they seem to be promoters of transformation,” he said.
