Pablo Matera will be able to play the final of the Super Rugby Pacific

After the review of his red card in the match against Chiefs, Argentine forward Pablo Matera was not sanctioned by the Sanzaar authorities and will be able to play for Crusaders in the Super Rugby Pacific final against Blues. The Alumni-trained player had been admonished in the semi-final, firstly, for a sequence of infractions of the Christchurch team in defence. Later, after having re-entered, the third line was sent off for a high tackle to Bryn Gatland.Due to this situation, Matera appeared yesterday before the court of the Sanzaar, entity that decided not to sanction him and, consequently, will be in a position to play the final of Super Rugby Pacific, a contest that brings together franchises from New Zealand, Australia and Fiji.Regarding this situation, the aforementioned body reported: “Having carried out a detailed review of all the evidence in relation to the yellow cards and having considered the evidence and presentations on behalf of the player, together with the surrounding circumstances, the Discipline Committee was satisfied that there was no persistent pattern of infringement on the part of the player.” Later, the Disciplinary Committee stated that the two yellow cards were given for technical infractions and were of a different nature from each other. Consequently, they considered that these were exceptional circumstances which did not justify any additional sanctions. It should be noted that Crusaders will play the final of the Super Rugby Pacific next Saturday, from 4.05 (Argentina time), against the Blues.
