Health reports more than 15,000 cases of COVID-19, new high in June

Mexico added 15,364 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, a new maximum figure for a day so far in June and since the federal Ministry of Health reported that it would resume its daily reports.
The country reaches a new high in this period for the second consecutive day. Just on Tuesday, it had broken previous levels with 13,752 infections in 24 hours.
With this, Mexico reaches a cumulative number of cases of 5 million 906 thousand 953, according to the reports of the federal Ministry of Health.

As for the number of people killed, this Wednesday another 29 deaths were counted, bringing the total in two years and four months of the pandemic to 325,487.
Mexico recorded its first case of COVID-19 on February 28, 2020. The first death was detected on March 18 of the same year.
Since then, the country has gone through four waves of infections and experts predict that a fifth wave will soon begin.

Yesterday, federal health authorities acknowledged that there has been an uptick in cases for nine weeks, although they insisted that there should be no alarm.
Since the beginning of June, when the Ministry of Health recognized the increase and announced the return of its daily reports, which had become weekly, the federal government maintains that the increase is not of that level with hospitalizations or deaths.
Authorities argue that vaccination has helped protect the population, so most of the disease already tend not to be serious.
