A 24-year-old cyclist died this morning after being hit by the driver of a truck that was driving drunk on a route in the Mendoza department of Tupungato, police sources said. The incident occurred around 4:15 a.m. when a 59-year-old man was driving aboard his Ford Ranger truck west on Route 88 and, after crossing lanes, rammed the cyclist who was traveling in the opposite direction.
After that, the driver of the truck stopped the march about 600 meters from the place of the collision, the sources detailed. The cyclist identified as Jesús Nahuel González (24) died at the scene after the impact, police information added. As it transpired, the driver of the van was returning to his home after having participated in a wine tasting. Meanwhile, Municipal Transit personnel made doses to the driver of the van yielding a positive result of 1.80 grams of alcohol in the blood that exceeds the minimum allowed by the Traffic Law.The man was transferred as an apprehended to a police headquarters. In the case, the Tax Office of jurisdiction intervenes.
