Mexico adds another 27,973 cases of COVID, new peak in fifth wave

Mexico registered another 27,973 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, which represents a new high so far in what is already considered the fifth wave of infections in the country.
With this, the number of accumulated cases in the territory reached 6 million 121 thousand 808, according to the daily report of the federal Ministry of Health.
The report also indicates that on Tuesday another 75 deaths were added, one of the largest numbers in this fifth wave, to reach 325,868 people killed so far in the pandemic.

After two years with four months since the first case of COVID-19 was detected in the country – which happened on February 28, 2020 – Mexico has gone through four waves of infections.
In the current wave, the health authorities point out that there are better conditions to face the disease, because although the cases rise, the serious pictures and the deaths do not do it at the same pace.
This is attributed to the protection generated by COVID-19 vaccines, which have already been applied to a high percentage of adults and are already being supplied to children.

At the international level, the World Health Organization (WHO) urges that the governments of the countries maintain precautions and not lower their guard against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
