“Santa Evita”: who’s who in the series about the enigmas after her death?

“Santa Evita” arrives, the series that adapts the best-selling novel by journalist Tomás Eloy Martínez, about the enigmas and legends that arose about the embalmed body of the actress, politician and promoter of the female vote in Argentina.

Starring Natalia Oreiro, and composed of seven episodes, the series features five central characters in the plot. Along with the actress, in charge of playing Eva Duarte (who will be represented in several stages of her life), will be: Ernesto Alterio (“Perfectos desconocidos”, “Infancia clandestina”), in the role of Colonel Moori Koenig; Diego Velázquez (“Relatos salvajes”, “Las rojas”), who plays the journalist Mariano Vázquez, Francesc Orella (“Merlí”) as Dr. Pedro Ara and Darío Grandinetti (“Rojo”, “Hable con ella”) in the role of Juan Domingo Perón.

Written by Marcela Guerty and Pamela Rementería. The executive production is in charge of the Mexican actress and producer Salma Hayek Pinault and José Tamez (both of the producer Ventanarosa).

“Emblematic figure of twentieth-century politics and iconic female character of Latin American history. Argentine political leader and actress. She met General Juan Domingo Perón in 1944 and married him the following year. In 1946 she became first lady of Argentina and was president of the Peronist Women’s Party and the Eva Perón Foundation. In 1952, she was officially declared Spiritual Head of the Nation. He was a key political figure in Argentina until his death from cancer on July 26, 1952. His body was kept waiting to be buried for three years for the construction of a mausoleum that was never carried out. In 1955, the military overthrew President Perón and hid his body for 16 years, with the intention of preventing him from becoming a weapon against the regime.

Directed by Rodrigo García, who also serves as executive producer, and by the Argentine filmmaker, actor, theater director and screenwriter Alejandro Maci, also in charge of artistic production, it premieres on July 26 on the Star+ platform.
