Daily Covid-19 report: 8,867 new infections, 35 deaths and active cases reach 34,831

The Ministry of Health (Minsal) published on Friday morning the daily report on the situation of the pandemic in the country. The ministry reported that there were 8,867 new cases of Covid-19 and 35 deaths from causes associated with the disease in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, active cases reached 34,831.
Of the total number of new cases, 4,722 correspond to symptomatic people and 1,634 do not present symptoms. In addition, there were 2,511 positive PCR tests that were not reported.
The variation of new confirmed cases at the national level is -8% and -8% for the comparison of seven and 14 days, respectively. Meanwhile, eleven regions decreased their cases in the last seven days and six did so in the last two weeks.
The total number of people who have been diagnosed with Covid-19 in the country reaches 4,122,401. Of that total, 34,831 patients are in the active stage. The recovered cases are 4,024,536.
As for the deaths, according to the information provided by the DEIS, in the last 24 hours there were 35 deaths due to causes associated with Covid-19. The total number of deaths in the country stands at 58,990.
Regarding the Laboratory Network and diagnostic capacity, yesterday the results of 56,067 PCR tests and antigen tests were reported, reaching to date a total of 41,282,462 analyzed nationwide. The positivity for the last 24 hours at the country level is 15.16% and in the Metropolitan Region it is 13.52%.
To date, 185 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 121 are supported by mechanical ventilation. In relation to the Integrated Health Network, there is a total of 261 critical beds available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where they are.
