Self-fulfilling prophecies in organizations

Apparently July is loaded with beliefs and predictions that anticipate the results of our thoughts, and even limit our actions by predisposing us to future conditions that we take for “facts”. This psychological effect we call “Self-fulfilling Prophecies” or “Pygmalion Effect” which is the psychological process that causes an expectation regarding certain future events increasing the possibility that it occurs.
What are your July expectations like, positive or negative?
It seems to be a simple question but perhaps it may be the most important question you can ask yourself today. Your expectations are direct commands for your brain that articulates to predispose itself and pay selective attention to thoughts that lead to the results you “expect.”
You and I know that this phenomenon is familiar and recurrent, but how to use it to our advantage at work?
From Neurolinguistic Programming and Neuromarketing we can bring resources to achieve this and here I will give you five tips to build your own self-fulfilling prophecies:
First: Belief, prophecies are verbalized from what we believe.
Second: Mastery, that is, build beliefs that depend on you.
Third: Positive, those beliefs should contemplate positive expectations.
Fourth: Action, they must be focused on generating movement.
Fifth: Time, expectations must be met in the short or medium term. This way your brain will be attentive to its fulfillment and will transform it into a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Examples of self-fulfilling prophecies in your work:
1: “I can’t change the past, but I can change the future.” Prophecy of goal, performance and improvement.

2. “I surround myself with people who are better than me and who want me to be even better.” Prophecy about positive self-worth, team identity and pride.
3. “Days are won.” Prophecy of proactivity and self-growth.
4. “If it were simple I wouldn’t be here.”  Prophecy of ambition and attitude.
5. “It was thought and done.” Prophecy to avoid procrastinating.
Remember that work is much more than a place where we are paid financially, it is also a space for growth, sharing, knowing, learning, satisfaction, pride and identity. And this is also a self-fulfilling prophecy.
