Sinaloa reports its first case

Sinaloa’s Health Secretary, Cuitláhuac González, confirmed the first case of monkeypox in the state.
When presenting the first symptoms, the patient went to the medical service where the corresponding samples were taken and the contagion was confirmed.
“Laboratory studies performed on a patient who traveled to Mexico City recently confirmed that Sinaloa joins other entities in the country that confirm having at least one person infected with monkeypox,” he said at a press conference.

According to the official, the infected person is stable and in home isolation with strict medical surveillance.
González called on the population to go to the nearest medical unit in case of presenting symptoms or being in contact with a suspect.
The first symptoms manifest after seven to 10 days and, if the disease is confirmed, an isolation of the patient of 21 days is decreed to submit him to medical treatment in complete isolation.

Monkeypox in Mexico
On July 11, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) announced that in Mexico there were 35 registered cases, 22 of them in Mexico City; nine in Jalisco; one in Veracruz; one in Colima; one in Baja California and one in Nuevo León.
He explained that 94% of the cases are male and 60% of them are HIV positive. With the case of Sinaloa, there would be 36 cases nationwide.
What is it?
According to the WHO, monkeypox is a disease caused by the monkeypox virus. It is a viral zoonosis, which means it can spread from animals to humans and between people.
Although the WHO has said it is concerned about the progress of the disease, but at the moment it is not a global public health emergency.
Symptoms of the disease include fever, headache, swollen lymph nodes, muscle pain, and lack of energy.
Then rashes appear on the face, palms of the hands and soles of the feet; lesions, pustules and, finally, scabs. It usually heals in about three weeks.
