The Ministry of Health presented the new National Epidemiological Bulletin

The Ministry of Health presented the new format of the Integrated Surveillance Bulletin that will now change its name to the National Epidemiological Bulletin (BEN). The latter disseminates weekly information on mandatory notification events of health significance. As reported, “its nominal change corresponds to a concept that seeks to highlight the federal and collaborative character of this product.” The new version maintains key sections of its predecessor and incorporates sections such as:
Emerging Epidemiological Situations.
A federal section in which provincial epidemiological authorities will be able to submit articles on surveillance and response to different situations in their jurisdictions.
A section dedicated to disseminating tools for the daily exercise of surveillance.

“The changes enrich a key tool for the prevention, surveillance and control of diseases and health risks,” the health ministry said. And he added that it is “an informative input for health teams and other areas involved in health management, since it can consult updated information referring to emerging events such as smallpox or severe acute hepatitis of unknown etiology.” On the latter, the national director of Epidemiology and Strategic Information, Analía Rearte, stressed that “this new bulletin works on that integrality and seeks to strengthen the opportunity of information for health decisions.” For his part, the director of Epidemiology, Carlos Giovacchini, stressed that “the bulletin is the result of the process of systematic collection, analysis and dissemination of information that is carried out throughout the Argentine territory carried out by more than 21,000 people who participate in the National Health Surveillance System.”
